Vice President's Office
Vice President’s Office provides leadership and strategic direction to all Division of Student Affairs areas. Executive Assistant: Provides direct administrative support to the VPSA. Manages day-to-day workflow, supports the division leadership and staff, and provides division-wide communications on behalf of the VPSA and various Student Affairs departments. First point-on-contact on matters of confidentiality for the office of the Vice President. Manages the VPSA’s calendar and travel. Collaborates closely with other divisions and the Chancellor’s Office to coordinate meetings and events for the VPSA. Assists with planning large meetings and events for the division. Project Coordinator: Directly supports the VPSA with research and preparation for division and campus-wide initiatives. Works closely with departments within Student Affairs and across campus under the direction of the VPSA. Creates and distributes critical digital communications for students, faculty, and staff. Monitors critical deadlines by working closely with the Executive Assistant to the VPSA, executive members of Student Affairs, and our Marketing and Communications team. Collaborates effectively with various workgroups and individuals to track and advance projects, initiatives, and other collaborative work under the Student Affairs division. Sr. Student Support Counselor: Works directly with students on academic-related issues and is a subject expert in advising, enrollment, admissions, and graduation. Supports and works directly with departments within Student Affairs, faculty members, and staff throughout campus under the direction of the VPSA. Provides support to the degree completion initiative by working with the Hornet Attain program, which helps adult learners who previously left Sac State return and complete their degree. Black Honors College
The Black Honors College is an enhanced co-curricular college for students providing specialized coursework, distinctive research opportunities and creative arts, residential living and learning programs, scholarships, and distinguished recognition. It is designed for students interested in Black history, life, culture, and contributions. Strategic Business Resources
Strategic Business Resources helps departments align resources to maximize the division’s impact on student success. Support the division by providing expertise in the areas of fiscal and personnel management, workplace wellness, program assessment, and infrastructure planning. The department ensures division-wide compliance with fiscal policies and regulations, tracks and reconciles the division’s budgets (general fund, grants, philanthropic funds, and revenues), administers personnel actions, including recruitment of staff and management positions, provides program-level cross-training and professional development opportunities, leads the employee engagement program, advances workplace wellness, and manages infrastructure projects for the division. Assessment supports programs and centers' assessment cycles by developing a logic model outlining key outcomes for the area, creating and completing an assessment plan, and identifying improvement strategies and metrics based on the assessment findings. Workplace Wellness also works to build a culture of wellness throughout the divisions of Student Affairs and Enrollment & Engagement to support staff well-being. SA Communications provides valuable support to the division
by crafting strategic communication plans and developing effective marketing campaigns prioritizing student needs. The team is dedicated to providing comprehensive assistance, including creating complete marketing campaigns, sending mass emails to students, designing graphics for events that align with department branding, and providing videography and photography production support. SA Information Technology (SAIT) provides technical support, web
management, accessibility, and quality assurance for all the departments and programs within the Division of Student Affairs. Oversee help desk support, providing technical assistance to our Divisional staff and student employees in computer hardware and software. The web support team oversees the division’s web updates and website restructuring and ensures that the WCAG regulations are met. Information Technology aims to maximize customer first-contact resolution by providing effective, timely, out-of-the-box, creative IT solutions. Academic Advising Center offers all students mandatory freshman advising and general education and graduation requirement advising. The center engages students in a developmental process that helps them clarify and implement individual educational plans consistent with their skills, interests, and values. College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) helps students from migrant and seasonal farmworker backgrounds develop the college skills associated with academic success and graduation. CAMP facilitates the high school to college transition by assisting with admission, financial aid application, and registration processes. Combat U provides an entry point for students seeking a world-class education and high-level combat sports training and competition opportunities. It is a public-private partnership between Sacramento State and Urijah Faber's Ultimate Fitness. Combat U gives a pathway to a university education for students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. Disability Access Center (DAC) offers support services and accommodations to ensure students with disabilities have the opportunity and access to pursue their educational goals. DAC collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to provide the campus community with consultation and information on disability-related issues. First Star Academy is a free, comprehensive four-year college readiness program for high school students currently experiencing foster care that aims to provide the academic support, enrichment, resources, and encouragement needed to assist youth in becoming competitive applicants to enroll and succeed in college. The program engages students in a variety of fun and active learning opportunities that include college credit, priority registration, independent studies, social and cultural activities, field trips, service learning, recreational activities, and a Sac State residential summer experience. Guardian Scholars supports Sacramento State’s foster youth students, specifically those who emancipate and are working to forge successful paths to academic, personal, and professional success. Toward these ends, Guardian Scholars provides individual academic resources, social support toward engaging in the campus community, and financial advising and support. High School Equivalency Program (HEP) assists migrant and seasonal agricultural workers in completing their high school education. The program helps individuals over the age of 18 obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma. HEP also prepares students for higher levels of education or training and assists with transitioning into more stable and better-paid forms of employment. NCAA Compliance provides students, coaches, staff, and administration with NCAA and athletic conference rules and eligibility education, financial and athletic scholarship services support, and oversees NCAA compliance requirements and investigations. Project Rebound helps formerly incarcerated students prepare, apply, enroll, and graduate with a high-quality degree from California State University Sacramento. Project Rebound provides support for each student to ensure their optimal success at the University. The program offers academic and financial counseling and referral, peer mentoring and tutoring, and career development. The program attempts to help students with their basic needs, enabling them to focus on their studies and achieve educational and personal empowerment. Student Conduct Office supports the University’s educational mission by administering the CSU Student Conduct process in a fair, timely, respectful, and educationally purposeful manner. CARES Office offers support to students who are experiencing complex issues or barriers to their education. The CARES Case Managers provide direction and referrals to campus and community resources that address their crisis. The case managers also coordinate the Behavioral Intervention Team and provide support, resources, and follow-up for students who present with concerning behaviors to promote a safe campus environment. Student Retention & Academic Success
Student Academic Success and Educational Equity Programs (SASEEP) is a multi-faceted and dynamic unit working to ensure the success of all students on campus while closing the achievement gap. SASEEP is vibrant and anchored by many innovative
programs. The Equity Programs are a collection of services and support structures that provide innovative and purpose-driven equity interventions and spaces promoting belonging. The Equity Programs include comprehensive initiatives designed to maximize the success of special program populations. This includes focusing on Pell-eligible scholars, first-generation, and students of color to elevate graduation rates. Esak’timá Center welcomes all Native students who are entering freshmen, returning students, and graduate students. Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) supports first-generation California residents from low-income households with the motivation and potential to earn baccalaureate degrees. Parents & Families Program creates and strengthens the partnership between parents and families of enrolled students and the University. Serna Center promotes, fosters, and enhances self-advocacy, empowerment, and leadership among Chicanx/Latinx students and students from other under-represented backgrounds at Sacramento State. Additionally, integrated into all programming are efforts that raise awareness of the social, political, economic, historical, and cultural realities of Chicanx/Latinx populations. Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) Center works to foster student belonging and provides a communal haven of support. In synergy with other campus Affinity Centers, the SWANA Center aims to help students gain the skills and support structures necessary to thrive at Sacramento State with the care and support of faculty, staff, and the community working together to elevate student achievement. The Center supports the values, culture, and rich history of SWANA students as they explore, navigate, and garner success in higher education.
Women’s Resource Center (WRC) works to eliminate gender discrimination and oppression by building the capacity of women on an individual and social level. The WRC builds alliances throughout the community and provides students with a supportive environment, resources, and educational encouragement.
